Miss Major: Celebrating a Legacy of Black Trans Freedom
Grand rising family,
You are cordially invited to attend Miss Major: Celebrating a Legacy of Black Trans Freedom on December 6th, 2025, at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco from 3pm to 5pm.
As many know, Miss Major loved music. In keeping with her wishes and radiant spirit, this gathering will be a joyful musical celebration rather than a memorial—since one has already taken place in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This celebration will uplift her joy, her resilience, her abolitionist brilliance, and her lifelong love for Black trans people. Together with TGIJP, City of Refuge UCC, and Glide, we are gathering in community to remember, reflect, and rise in her name.
Dignitaries and special guest speakers to be announced. The Glide Ensemble and the City of Refuge Choir will be offering musical tributes and reflections. Follow TGIJP.org and TGIJP on Instagram for more updates.
Join us as we honor the life, power, and profoundly transformative legacy of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy — our movement mother, our beloved ancestor.
Please wear red, black, and/or white for this celebration, as these are Miss Major’s three favorite colors.
✨ Music · Reflection · Poetry · Community ✨
In-person and online.
All are welcome.
Please join us to uplift Miss Major’s legacy of love and resistance in community.
Doors open at 2:30pm. Please arrive early to be seated. The event will start at 3pm sharp.
